What Ride Board Does
Ride Board is a personal weather-aware cycling ride status app. It connects to your Strava account to show upcoming group rides from your clubs, overlaid with weather forecasts so you know whether to kit up or stay home.
Data We Access from Strava
When you connect your Strava account, we access:
- Your club memberships — to know which clubs to check for upcoming rides
- Club group events — ride titles, times, locations, and routes
- Route data — polyline coordinates to sample weather along the ride route
- Your basic profile — athlete ID for authentication
We do not access your activities, GPS tracks, heart rate, power data, or any fitness/training information.
How We Store Your Data
- Strava OAuth tokens are encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM
- We cache club event data locally to reduce API calls — cached data refreshes every 30 minutes
- Weather data is fetched from Open-Meteo (a free, open-source weather API) and cached temporarily
- Your personal threshold preferences (temperature, wind, rain comfort levels) are stored in a local database
- We do not sell, share, or transfer your data to third parties
Push Notifications
If you opt in, we send browser push notifications when a ride's status changes (e.g., weather shifts from "on" to "iffy"). You can disable notifications at any time in your browser settings or in the app.
Deleting Your Data
You can disconnect Ride Board from Strava at any time via Strava Settings → My Apps. This revokes our access immediately. To delete your Ride Board account and all stored data, contact jonathangreene@gmail.com.
Strava API Usage
Ride Board uses the Strava API in accordance with the Strava API Agreement. All Strava data is used solely to display ride information and weather forecasts within this app.
